Squeal Factor 5

This is not a flower,
it's a rabbit without ears
who rides his bike
through London town
as the clocks explode.

This is not a girl
with hair as red as Latin.
It's a Pekinese
who thinks he's Elvis-
and perhaps that's true.

This is not a negative,
nor a plate of Irish stew.
It's a whale
who wails and wails
because Latin is not red,
it is dead

This is not repetition.
It's a swan who forgot her name
and staggers around the city,
drunk on kerosene.

This is not the end
It's an angel with a baseball bat
who's heaven sent
and vengeance bent
So, whatever you do,
don't step on his blue-suede wings.

Rewrite

"Squeal factor 5" laments the furniture
as the window panes become window pains.
The swans can't recall their names;
They stagger about drunk on gasoline.
And Sam looks at the mess
that once was Pandora's face.

The flowers are gone-
turned into rabbits without ears
that ride their bikes
throughout the city
as the clocks explode.

The lady next door kneels down
in her lounge room, praying
Pekinese prayers to waves
which don't exist but still
crash onto shores
dreamt up by baby whales.

Babies begin to wail
aroused by the wail of the siren of the ambulance
that has come for Pandora.

Sam rides with her;
He remembers that the cat has not been feed.
He begins to weep.

Sunflower, moon, rainwater, dirt.
A bullet through their window.
nothing, no more,
makes any sense.

Mystery

(0riginal)

A grey owl sleeps in a blue room
where a white witch uses a red broom
to sweep tan mice onto a green lawn.

On the green lawn,
lies a pair of black velvet gloves
which are covered in dried criminson blood.

The blood belongs to a brown man
who wore an orange dress
and owned a pink pig.

The pink pig cries clear tears
of colourless griesf
for his dead brown master.

Back in the blue room,
the white witch now uses the red broom
for other purposes.

And the grey owl wakes up
and flies out to the green lawn
and begins to eat the tan mice.

(1st rewrite)
An owl as grey
as the contemplations of a postmodern theorist
sleeps in a room as blue as an off pay week
while a white witch uses a red broom
to sweep brown mice onto a cold green lawn.

On the lawn,
under the gaze of a Thelonious Monk moon,
a black velvet glove lies-
bloody and dirty and as returned as the repressed.
like some strange mysterious mcguffin
that might be considered in a Zizekian analysis of Hitchcockian mis-en-scene.

Anyhoo, hoo, hoo
the owl awakens and flies out to eat the mice while
the white witch now uses her broom for blue purposes.
And the black glove remains on the green lawn,
a sign of procrustean times.

Whenever Annabella

(Original)

Whenever Annabella shaves her legs
ducks and cows stop and stare
at Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn
while Claire become a mirror, mirror upon the wall.

Whenever Annabella brushes her hair
Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn
fall upon the bears
that lick star spangled melodies from Goldie's inner thighs.

Whenever Annabella almost dies
rats and mice and pumpkins become concerned
about Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn
and about Helen who dresses in red and dates Virgina wolves.

Whenever Annabella wears her Sylvia Plath panties
I have to ask Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn
why on Earth and the Moon
would a dish run away with a spoon?
