Earliest Memories

I read in Memory Babe that Jack Kerouac said that he could remember being born.
I am a bit dubious about that claim.

My earliest memory is of being three years old, in the snow, in wintertime Italy--and because amazed and frightened by these
pigs that seemed as huge as hippos.

I asked around (friends and relatives) and while quite a few people had memories of themselves as infants none of them could remember being born.

My brother told me that his earliest memory was being in his cot and our mother and an aunt looking down at him.

An online friend wrote that she had a memory of being held by 'someone' and being estatic because of all these different coloured lights that were flashing before her eyes.

Another person's earliest memory was of standing in a fireants nest when she was two. Screaming and crying until she was rescued by an adult.
